The search for the trucking industry’s top young diesel technician is about to get started.

The Next Generation in Trucking Association is once again recognizing outstanding diesel technicians and professional drivers under the age of 30 who are making an impact in the trucking industry.

Nominations open Sept. 1 and close Oct. 9. The 2026 finalists and grand champions will be announced Oct. 27.

Following an inaugural year that recognized 56 finalists and two grand champions, Next Generation said it is ready to celebrate a new group of rising stars in 2026.

Selected nominees will be recognized as 2026 NEXT Top Talent Finalists, celebrating young professionals across the country who are already making their mark on the industry. From those finalists, one diesel technician and one professional driver will be selected as the 2026 grand champions.

Companies are encouraged to nominate young technicians and drivers who go above and beyond, demonstrate skill, safety, and professionalism, show initiative and career growth, and make a positive impact on their teams and companies.
